Yes. Shellac is a gel polish brand made by CND. Several discount nail salons offer no-name or imitation Shellac brands at low prices. The quality does not measure up to real Shellac and does not offer the same benefits from ease of application to the removal process. Beware of “fake” Shellac and other gel polishes that can be damaging and unhealthy to your nail beds. Look for the CND Shellac label when receiving a Shellac service.

No. It is highly recommended that Shellac be removed professionally at the spa. Apply cuticle oil such as Solar Oil twice daily. Shellac allows product to penetrate through to the nail plate keeping it hydrated and free from damage.
